Long before he became one of the world’s most respected voice coaches, David Jaanz–Fernández was making his mark on stage. In 1989, his band Janz represented Australia at the World Yamaha Band Competition—beating over 22,000 entrants to take out the Grand Platinum Prize. That victory led to a signing with Sony Music and the release of two singles, Crime and Picture.
From there, David launched a solo career, releasing two albums, Baby and My Child, and performing alongside icons like Stevie Wonder, George Benson, Womack & Womack, and Patti LaBelle. These performances weren’t just career milestones—they were formative experiences that shaped David’s understanding of artistry, expression, and stagecraft.
That journey—from winning global competitions to commanding live audiences—laid the foundation for everything he teaches today. His lived experience as a world-class performer gives him a unique ability to train not just singers, but true artists.
